Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of corruption on economic growth in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) from 2000 to 2024. The primary objective is to evaluate, through a dynamic approach (ARDL model), the short- and long-term effects of corruption on GDP per capita. The findings confirm a stable co-integration relationship among variables. The analysis demonstrates that Institutional Quality (COR) is the most critical determinant of growth: improved governance yields a powerful positive long-term impact (coefficient of 33.04). Conversely, Human Capital (CAPHUM) plays a non-significant role, suggesting its potential is hindered by a deficient institutional environment. The study concludes that institutional reform and anti-corruption measures are imperative priorities for ensuring sustainable prosperity in the DRC.
