The research article Institutional Quality and Regional Development in Morocco, examines the impact of institutional quality on regional development in Morocco. The article begins by presenting the theoretical underpinnings of the importance of institutions for economic development. It is then shown that the quality of institutions is a key factor in regional development, particularly in terms of investment attraction, economic growth and job creation. The article then focuses on the case of Morocco. It is shown that Morocco has made significant progress in institutional quality over recent decades. However, there are still challenges to be met, particularly in terms of transparency and the fight against corruption.
The article proposes an empirical framework to assess the impact of institutional quality and economic trust on regional development in Morocco. The authors use an ADRL model to analyze data on institutional quality, economic confidence and regional development in Morocco between 2012 and 2022.The analysis findings indicate that the positive influence on regional development in Morocco stems from both institutional quality and economic confidence. The article suggests that for regional development to thrive, Morocco should persist in enhancing institutional quality and fostering economic confidence.
