Abstract

The crisis in the film industry is a major problem for most West African countries, particularly Benin. The issue of financing in this sector remains a key concern for its development. This research aims to analyze the perceptions and effects of insufficient funding in Beninese film production. It was conducted in Cotonou with film enthusiasts at Canal Olympia, filmmakers, producers, camera operators, and acting coaches. A total of 80 individuals were selected using simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques. The collected data were analyzed using Keynesian theory. The results show that the majority of film enthusiasts and professionals interviewed believe that the Beninese film industry lacks its own capital and does not receive sufficient state funding. Furthermore, many young talents express a desire to work in this field, but insufficient funding constitutes a major obstacle to their development.
