In Africa and many low-income countries, more than 80% of caregivers practice in cities, while the majority of the population resides in rural areas. Consequently, the countryside of the world is deserted by caregivers while urban health centres are overstaffed. Through this communication, we seek to shed light on the problem of the retention of caregivers in rural areas in Morocco, and to propose solutions in the light of scientific recommendations and research on the subjection. To do this, we have compiled the various strategic documents and scientific articles related to our problem in order to establish a state of play of the situation of health professionals in the rural world; summarise the results of the various subsequent studies and formulate operational recommendations. With this in mind, we have concluded that the retention of nursing staff in rural areas requires the improvement of the working conditions of health workers in rural areas through the adoption of a comprehensive policy integrating the different social dimensions economic, organizational and academic.
